Renew is pleased to house a state of the art physical therapy wing treating patients through the integration of traditional physical therapy methods with great one-on-one services. Our physical medicine team will provide you with comprehensive rehabilitation techniques and treatment programs.

The Integration of Physical Medicine with your Health

In many cases, patients are being sent to physical medicine instead of surgery. Our team of chiropractors, physical therapists, athletic trainers, massage therapists, acupuncturists and physicians help people with orthopedic conditions such as low back pain or osteoporosis; joint and soft tissue injuries such as fractures and dislocations; neurologic conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, or Parkinson's disease; connective tissue injuries such as burns or wounds; cardiopulmonary and circulatory conditions such as congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; and workplace injuries including repetitive stress disorders and sports injuries.

Manual therapies such as myofascial release, active release and massage are cornerstones of Renew's physical medicine department. Depending on the particular needs of a patient, there may be manipulative therapy, manual therapies  and/or exercise therapies that may be employed by the members of the team to promote proper movement and function of the neuromusculoskeletal system. At Renew, most manipulation is done by a chiropractor, specializing in the techniques of joint mobilization and manipulation.  Our physical medicine team may use other techniques such as electrotherapy, ultrasound (high-frequency waves that produce heat), hot packs, and ice in addition to other treatments when appropriate.

All of our physical therapists, massage practitioners and athletic trainers will also work with individuals to prevent loss of mobility by developing home fitness and wellness oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

What Can I Expect at a Physical Medicine/Therapy Session?

Our patients can expect a minimum of 30 minutes of hands-on time with a physical therapist or athletic trainer and 30-50 minutes with the massage therapist.  All of whom are dedicated not only to the relief of your symptoms, but also to uncovering the source of your pain or dysfunction. Expect to be stronger, have better posture, have improved performance whatever your choice activity may be, and to be more knowledgeable about your own body than you were before you were injured, or came to see us. We offer care that allows you to manage and prevent any future pain or problem by changing, if necessary, the way you sleep, sit, play and live so you’re better longer!

When a physical medicine practitioner sees a patient for the first time, he or she examines that individual and develops a plan of care that promotes the ability to move, reduces pain, restores function, and prevents disability. That practitioner and the patient then work side-by-side to make sure that the goals of the treatment plan are met.
